South Korea – Witnesses to the beauty of being a Christian (ANS – Seoul) - ‘May the Church in Asia bear ever more fervent witness to the incomparable beauty of being a Christian’: this was the greeting from Benedict XVI in a message sent to the 400 participants in the Congress of Asian Catholic Laity taking place in Seoul. At the centre of the papal document there is also a reminder of ‘the indispensable role of the lay faithful in the Church’s mission’.

Portugal – Tenth Salesian Formation Course (ANS – Lisbon) – The first part of a Salesian Formation Course took place at the provincial house of the Lisbon Province on 30 August. This course, now in its tenth year, is open to teachers in the various Salesian presences in Portugal.

RMG – Pakistan: more is needed! (ANS – Rome) – After the first interventions in Quetta, the network of Salesian solidarity has been extended to help the people of Pakistan, suffering from the floods of a few weeks ago. Don Bosco Missions from Turin, Jugend Dritte Welt from Bonn, and other Salesian NGOs are committed to aid projects being coordinated from Quetta and Lahore.

31/8/2010 – Brazil – Reading Club at the 21st Biennial Book Festival (ANS – Saõ Paolo) – At the 21st Biennial Book Festival in Saõ Paolo, which took place from 12 to 22 August in Anhembi Park, there was a display about an interesting literacy project run by the Don Bosco Salesian School in Porto Alegre.
