RMG - 24 May: prayer for China and for the faith (ANS – Rome) – Today, Friday 24 May, Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians, the Catholic Church celebrates the World Day of Prayer for China, established by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007. In China, Mary is honoured with great devotion under the title Helper, in the Shrine at Sheshan near Shanghai.

Pakistan - The Salesian situation in the country: the state of the art (ANS – Lahore) – Ten months after the Study Days on Salesian presence among Muslims, Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the Salesian Missions, visited the two Salesian centres in Pakistan, at Lahore and Quetta, between 14 and 21 May. This was the fourth visit the Councillor has made to this country in ten years.

Mexico - Sr Antonietta Böhm on her way to the honours of the altar (ANS – Mexico City) – On Sunday 12 May, on the occasion of her visit to the Province of Our Lady of Gaudalupe, Mexico, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, asked that the Diocesan enquiry be begun on the life, heroic virtue and reputation for holiness of Sr Antonietta Böhm, FMA (born Germany, 23 September 1907 – died Mexico, 27 April 2008).

Italy - The Feast of Mary Help of Christians live from Valdocco (ANS – Turin) – This year also, thanks to Missioni Don Bosco, it will be possible to follow a live transmission of some of the celebrations planned for the Feast of Mary Help of Christians in the Basilica at Valdocco.

Italy - The new website for visitors to Valdocco is online (ANS – Turin) – The new website for visitors to Valdocco has been online for a few days now. This will be of help to pilgrims in planning and organizing their visit to the heart of the Salesian charism, especially now as we prepare for the Bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco (1815-2015).

DIGITAL TRUTH The digital world, everything that has to do with information technology, social networks and the use of “gadgets” is always under threat from behaviour which is less than “honest” and truthful, a use which is “dehumanised”; and this is one of the concerns expressed by the Holy Father Benedict XVI in the message which every year sets the scene for the World Day of Social Communications which this year reaches its 45th anniversary.
